Our purpose is to bring Honour and Glory to the LORD our God through the exaltation of Jesus Christ His Son – that is why He created us, that is why He saved us by His grace, that is why He has gathered us together as a body of believers in Fergus.
Eph 1; Rev 4; Eze 20; 36; Gen 1:1-Rev 22:21
We bring honour and glory to the NAME of the LORD our God by:
Worshiping Him in all aspects of our lives:
“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. 38 This is the great and first commandment.”
Matt 22:37-38; Mark 12:30; Luke 10:27
Loving One Another:
34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.
John 13:34-35; John 15:12;17; 1 John 3; 4; Matt 22:39; Mark 12:31; Luke 10:27
Responding to the Great Commission to take the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the lost.
19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you..
Matt 28:18-20; John 20:19-23; Acts 1:8
PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE
In the late 1930s, a group of believers were led by the Lord to begin a new gospel work in the Elora-Fergus district. After several years of meeting in homes and rented facilities, they purchased two old church buildings in Howick Township north of Palmerston, which were dismantled to provide materials for a new church building in Fergus. The first Bethel Baptist Church building was constructed at 230 St. Andrew Street East in the winter of 1941-1942, and the first service was held on Good Friday, 1942. Since that time, Bethel Baptist Church has been a continuous witness for Jesus Christ in Fergus, and through the many missionaries supported, around the world. We’re now approaching our 75th anniversary in 2017, should the Lord delay His return!
